“… celebrate a festival to me.” – Exodus 23:14
In Exodus 23, the Israelites of all the tribes are commanded to gather together before the Lord and celebrate regular festivals. In many ways, what we have called a “TrueCity Conference” for the past 12 years has already been quite festival-like, but this year we are making it official. On March 3rd and 4th, 2017 we will once again gather together at Philpott Memorial Church as the TrueCity network to celebrate what God is doing in the city , but this year it will be for the TrueCity Festival.
We want to keep much of what has been good and best about our yearly Conference, but let the relational, connecting, and celebration take centre stage. We intend to do more than simply “rebrand”, we want to create a time and space that builds on the strengths of the network we have created together.
On Friday evening we will start the Festival by welcoming Dr. John M. Perkins. Dr. Perkins is an author, mentor, activist, pastor who founded the Christian Community Development Association. He has inspired many of us and is the man Indwell’s Perkins Centre in East Hamilton is named for. We are deeply indebted to the leadership of Indwell and the generosity of an anonymous donor who are making it possible for us to have Dr. Perkins with us for the Festival.
On Saturday we will have a series of storytellers, worship sessions, activities, and more! Stay tuned for details.
